Julio Trujillo, assistant director of under妖精视频 admissions, is the recipient of the 2025 Davlin Diversity Leadership Award from Dominican University.

Trujillo was presented with the award during the Academic Convocation Ceremony on Sept. 4.

鈥淲hether through his leadership, advocacy or everyday actions, Julio consistently uplifts the voices of others, creating spaces where all individuals feel seen, heard and valued,鈥 said Dr. Precious Porras, vice president of the Office of Justice, Equity and Inclusion, in her introduction of the award.  鈥淗is passion for justice and community is not only evident in his work but also deeply felt by everyone fortunate enough to know him.鈥

In his remarks, which he delivered in English, followed by Spanish, Trujillo acknowledged that he was humbled to accept the Davlin Award. He credited his parents for 鈥渢heir dreams of wanting a better life for themselves and their children.鈥

鈥淚 am a product of that dream,鈥 Trujillo said. 鈥淢any of us are here today because of those who dared to dream and then took their first steps toward their future.

鈥淚 hope for us as a university and as a community that we continue to fight together to ensure our next generation鈥檚 goals and dreams come true,鈥 he added.

Trujillo joined Dominican University in 2022. He previously served in admission counseling roles at other Illinois colleges and universities.

The Davlin Diversity Leadership Award is named in honor of Sr. Mary Clemente Davlin, OP, an advocate for social justice and diversity in higher education. Sr. Clemente was an alumna of Rosary College and taught English from 1970 to 2005.

Presented annually, the Davlin Award recognizes a Dominican University faculty or staff member whose teaching, programming and/or service embodies Sr. Clem鈥檚 dedication to building antiracist and equitable practices at Dominican.
